Emergencies The environmental health section, under contract with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, responds to a variety of "emergency" situations such as truck accidents, fires, floods, power outages or other natural disasters where food products are involved. During the investigation of these events, food products are assessed to determine their condition. Foods that have been deprived of appropriate temperature control, contaminated, adulterated or compromised in a manner rendering them unfit for human consumption are disposed of. Another example of an "emergency" situation the section could be involved in would be a "boil water" order issued by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources for a community well or a well serving a regulated establishment such as a restaurant or motel. |
