Maternal Child Health

Our staff work in many different ways to help improve the health of women, children and families in our community.

We provide immunizations. We support breastfeeding. We offer nutrition information and supplemental food vouchers through the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program.

We look at trends in child injuries and deaths in order to develop and implement programs and policies to keep our children safer. We protect infants from SIDS by providing parents with safe sleep education. We work with our partners to encourage children to get more physical activity by walking to school and to protect children with safer bus stops.

Our staff work with child care centers to ensure a safe, healthy environment for children while parents are working.

Funding to support programs for women and children comes in part from the Maternal and Child Health Services Block Grant, Title V of the Social Security Act.

We receive funding through the state to address Maternal Child Health issues. As part of this funding, we seek community input to guide the next phase of focus. If you live in Maries or Phelps county, we would greatly appreciate it if you could take 5 minutes to complete our short survey. The results will help us serve you better! The survey will be open until January 5, 2018. Thank you!
